Customize your tote bag with Otomi embroidery, meet Endy Lopez who has 19 years of experience and continues the tradition of embroidery for 4 generations in Tenancingo, Hidalgo.

Otomi embroideries are generated under a rigorous ritual of social documentation, they are a tribute to the community and to its most important events such as harvest, sowing, marriage or birth. They have a magical and redeeming function with the earth and its inhabitants.

OBJECTIVES

-Know the Otomi textile tradition and its meaning.

-Learn traditional stitches.

-Design a personalized bag applying the knowledge of the workshop.

PROGRAM

Stage 1: Introduction to Otomí embroidery, geographic and cultural context.

Stage 2: Traditional designs in Otomí embroidery and meanings.

Stage 3: Start of the project: selection of elements, colors and design composition.

Stage 4: Experimentation and application of the technique to own design.
