The design of traditional Mexican clothing results from a process of relationship with its environment: again and again we find examples of clothing that has specific functions for each community. Thus, the jorongos are in turn cold warmers and mobile bedspreads, Oaxacan hats are jícaras to drink and capture water, and traditional Huichol blouses have open sides to give greater agility with the bow and arrow. In this sense, the relationship between work and cultural expression happens in the most intimate space of everyday life: that which covers the body.
